Why you choose did you choose the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training to do your PhD/EngD?

I was interested in doing research but wanted to work on real world applications. I liked that the EngD scheme combined applied research with industrial experience and training allowing me to easily transition into industry afterwards.

How does it feel to work with world-leading academics and have an important exposure to industry?

It’s a great environment to work and network in. It allows you to workshop problems and receive support from the community easily.  It gives you a taste for both academia and industry at the same time.

What are your career aspirations and how this PhD/EngD helped you to achieve them so far?

I aim to become a field-leading researcher and lecturer. I cannot emphasise enough how invaluable the EngD scheme was for my professional development and career progression.  The scheme gave me a solid foundation of essential transferable skills whilst granting me the responsibility, freedom and flexibility I needed to develop my own interests and pursue my own goals. My university, supervisors, sponsor company and the CDT itself were all extremely supportive and encouraging throughout. I would recommend it to anyone.
